We have been notified of a positive COVID case in the high school. That student's last day on campus was Tuesday 11/28/23. This is our reminder that flu season is upon us and COVID is currently active in the community. Please cover coughs and sneezes, wash your hands, avoid poorly ventilated and crowed areas, and stay home when you are sick. We appreciate you helping keep our kids healthy.

NOTICE OF HUMAN SEXUALITY INSTRUCTION On May 16, 2023, Noxon Public Schools will host the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) and present the dangers and issues/trends. As the parent, guardian, or individual responsible for childcare, you have the right to have your child excused from the assembly. Therefore, your child’s absence will be excused. Agent Brian Cassidy from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) will discuss the dangers and trends he has observed in his investigations. Although topics such as cyberbullying and the permanence of images on the internet are familiar, Agent Cassidy will also address the increased frequency of sextortion crimes aimed at youth and the risks posed by emerging technology. The presentation is for students in grades 7th through 12th grade. This presentation isn't meant to be a scare tactic. Agent Cassidy will provide tips for staying safe online and ways for kids to protect each other from malicious actors. Noxon School was just informed of a staff member being diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. Public Health was notified and they will reach out if the school needs to take any further precautions. They did want to remind everyone to wash your hands, stay home if sick, and read attached CDC meningitis information. Meningitis symptoms include sudden onset of: Fever Headache Stiff neck There are often other symptoms, such as: Nausea Vomiting Photophobia (eyes being more sensitive to light) Altered mental status (confusion) Newborns and babies may not have, or it may be difficult to notice the classic symptoms listed above. Instead, babies may: Be slow or inactive Be irritable Vomit Feed poorly Have a bulging fontanelle (the “soft spot” on a baby’s head) Have abnormal reflexes If you think your baby or child has any of these symptoms, call the doctor right away. Typically, symptoms of bacterial meningitis develop within 3 to 7 days after exposure; note, this is not true for TB meningitis, which can develop much later after exposure to the bacteria. Anyone who thinks they may have meningitis should see a doctor as soon as possible. https://www.cdc.gov/meningitis/bacterial.html
